Scam Reports Other Active 789 views View on BitcoinTalk
I am publishing this to document my personal experience with GhostSwap and to help others make informed decisions. This post is based on my personal experience and publicly available blockchain data.

    Swap ID: 41gf6aamcb79iw8o
    Amount: 12.44100000 ETH
    Date: 24 May 2026
    My wallet: 0x8520cc42c1a3500e82c77079d345f5425ca4c907
    Transaction hash: 0xc22d4d100c5589179ee7c0808dea02cf034a9b5c92433eb1f2c4d0c7f27a71fe

    What happened:

I sent 12.441 ETH to GhostSwap for a swap on 24 May 2026.

The funds were received, but the swap has not been executed.

I completed full KYC verification via SumSub and provided source-of-funds documentation.

Since then, support has only responded with "no updates" and has not provided timelines or a resolution.

    Blockchain observation:

The transaction flow shows that the funds were forwarded to an address associated with HitBTC.

When I asked GhostSwap about this, they stated that HitBTC is not holding my funds.

If this is correct, it raises questions about who currently has control over the funds and the execution path of the swap.

    Key inconsistencies:

GhostSwap's marketing materials describe the service as "KYC-free by default" with most swaps processed without verification. In my case, full KYC was required and funds remain unresolved.

Their Terms state that GhostSwap is non-custodial and does not hold user funds, yet my funds have been pending for over a month.

Blockchain data indicates routing through a HitBTC-associated address, while GhostSwap denies custody or control at that stage.

I requested disclosure of the licensed processing partner responsible for my transaction, but received no answer.

I sent a formal request to both support and legal contacts, with no response so far.

    Actions I have taken:

Completed KYC via SumSub (25 June 2026)

        Submitted source-of-funds documentation

Submitted formal requests to support and legal contacts

Filed public reports on Trustpilot and KYCnot.me

My goal: To recover my 12.441 ETH or complete the requested swap.

I will update this thread as the situation develops.

This is actually "normal" in the industry. Even though it certainly seems very weird. Crypto, becomes fungible once it hits a service that complies with chain forensic companies.
It's not just weird, it's magic: the ones who claim someone's money is "tainted" are the ones who can magically clean it and sell it! It's obvious the companies that sell the notion of "taint" have a financial interest in keeping exchangers as customers.

Yes. "Clean" in crypto forensic AML terms just means: "Comes from a trusted source", which in other words means: "Comes from a company we sell AML checks to"

Too many egomaniacs think they are Satoshi.

It's just an odd, malicious attempt at centralising Bitcoin for their own financial advantage.  Is that what they think that every Bitcoiner wants- Bitcoin turned into proxy for a CBDC?

Whoever tries to grab hold power over Bitcoin is a fool and not to be taken seriously.

Quick update.

On July 22, GhostSwap requested documents from a third party — I had to ask an acquaintance to confirm the sale in writing and provide their personal documents. They also suggested that documents from my relatives could help the case.

Is this normal? Asking for personal documents and business records from people who are not even customers of the exchange?

I completed my own KYC. I could provide this information to the police if there is an actual case. But GhostSwap has already misled me twice — first with "no KYC," then by denying that HitBTC holds my funds.

To ask for info from the other party of the sale that's the source of your funds - yes that's normal.
To ask for info from just random people unrelated to how you obtained the coins - no. That would be very odd.

Did you get the coins from this acquaintance?

No, this acquaintance introduced me to the buyer, and the deal went through later. This acquaintance submitted a written application and attached his document at GS's request (I had to ask him to do so).

But the buyer's phone number has been unreachable for a long time. However, my friend has made various transactions before, and everything always went well

I smell the bad intention. They won't refund you a single dollar. Go to court if you don't have nothing to fear of. OrangeFren is the only side here that can help you.

@OrangeFren
If you can push the case to an advanced stage to find a solution. You hold their money and they need you to be listed in your site despite being a KYC exchange. Do you still think they deserve to be listed in your website after proving they are liars?

@Murat
You ignored the question. Why you don't answer? Your silence says it all.

You should have checked the terms before using the website.
@Murat
Did you check the same terms before accepting to manage a campaign promoting Ghostswap as a privacy-first, no-KYC crypto exchange? If NO, then you have a problem. If YES, then you have two problems.
It's starting to make sense: Murat got paid by selective scammer "Ghostswap" to promote their website on Bitcointalk. Murat literally claimed that it's a "No-KYC Crypto Exchange", and now tells users they should have read the Terms so they could have known he's advertising a lie.
This explains why he removed me from his Trust list:

Go to court
Against an anonymous scammer?
Let's check their website (I'm quoting different parts without giving them a backlink):
Quote
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which GhostSwap is established
If only they'd say which jurisdiction they're in....
Quote
GhostSwap is operated by GhostSwap
That doesn't really narrow it down....

@RedFlix — thank you for your support. I really appreciate it.

I know I could go to court, but in my country crypto is not regulated, so it won't help. I regret not using BestChange — at least there is some oversight there, and they can step in if an exchange misleads users. These "no KYC" listings on platforms like OrangeFren are just for show. They don't actually protect anyone. I'm starting to see that more and more.

What I still don't understand: GhostSwap pretends to solve my case, but refuses to admit that my funds are held by HitBTC. They misled me twice — first with "no KYC," then by denying HitBTC holds my funds. And some people still defend this?

I have nothing to hide. I provided my documents. But I don't know who they are. Who is behind GhostSwap?

This is quite a wrong conclusion to draw. It only confirms that you may not have the best approach to the whole problem.
Like you made a mistake because you didn't do enough research on Ghostswap and potential warranty/escrow conditions in the case of a refund, so you sent a slightly larger amount at once to an "unproven" service. Now you recognise Bestchange as a better alternative, and if you try a little harder, you will see many cases where BC is accused because they preferred to defend the exchanger rather than the user.
Whatever your case ends up being, and I sincerely hope for a positive outcome, you need to learn as much as you can from it.

Thanks for your comment. Yes, I suppose I'm exaggerating Bestchange's merits a bit right now, but OrangeFren hasn't done anything for me so far either. I could be wrong, but that's exactly how it looks to me.

This is very similar to another story that happened recently, where LM, as Degen's manager, added a user to distrust list for leaving feedback against Degen.

In any case, they're both now on my distrust list.

He deserves a negative rating for the same reason as Ghostswap. They cooperated to sell a big lie. I can be sure that many users believed that lie without checking the truth about the KYC because they believe in the Murat's green trust history. Murat sacrificed his reputation.

Sorry, I'll take care of it too. These things are quite unacceptable. It makes me sad to see people who accept bribes for a few cents, putting other people in danger.
it's very sad, it really indicates moral poverty..

If nothing, OrangeFren immediately excluded them from monitoring. In BC, it goes much more slowly or rarely happens, and your case would not have much effect on their position there.
I don't agree with OF's policy to withdraw funds from escrow only if the swap was done through their platform, but Ghostswap certainly loses by being delisted from one of the most popular aggregators
