I'm stoked to share SageSwap.io, a new platform we've been working on for swapping crypto without all the usual nonsense. You know how it is with some exchanges - KYC up to your eyeballs, JavaScript tracking you, frozen funds, or crazy fees. SageSwap is built for people who value privacy.

You can swap stuff like .BTC, LTC, XMR, ETH, DAI, SOL, DASH, TRX, BNB ' USDT/C. and a bunch more without signing up or giving away your life story. No logs, No Java, just a clean, secure setup. If something goes wrong with your swap, we've got your back with free refunds! We believe cryptocurrencies represent freedom, and freedom demands privacy. In a world full of surveillance and restrictions, SageSwap empowers users with full control of everything.

I know that Sageswap gives pretty clean coins, I made a few swaps before and I got always coins with risk less than 10% according to @btc_aml_bot Telegram bot. That's why I was surprised when I got coins with 34% risk score. To be honest I'm not really sure how big is the risk of funds being locked on some CEX, but AML bot recognizes it as medium risk.

Well, if we get 30% or more AML coins in our personal wallet and not on the exchanges, thats no risk, right ? The risk is only when you get those high AML coins to be deposited directly to the exchanges. Is it right?

So if we get high risk AML coins in our Wallet and then we transfer those coins to the exchanges, the AML tag with those coins remain with them ? If the exchange take no action, where does those AML coins go ? Once you withdraw coins from exchanges, you will receive completely different coins, not linked to the previously deposited coins.

No, it's not that simple. If you are holding high-risk AML coins in your personal wallet, it does not eliminate the risk. Even if you move those coins from wallet to wallet, they are traceable through the blockchain. While moving those coins on the exchanges will immediately get your accounts or funds frozen as exchanges have automated systems and this is for their own security.

Still, if you get away with it, the blockchain analytics firms can still track your deposits and withdrawals with the help of the exchange and eventually, you will be accountable.

Is there any case like that? I wonder how they'll handle that if the customer lives in a different country.

Speaking of flagged coins, it's also weird that exchanges don't apply stricter rules like tracking the previous 5 txs of a deposit to decide whether that's suspicious or not. At least in my local exchanges, they flag deposit from known mixer addresses quite fast, but if the user withdraw those coins to their own address then send it to them, they won't flag them at all. Not sure if they'll change things in the near future or it's intended.

Your wallet may have 0 coins, and the wallet's AML risk is very high due to past transactions. I don't know the AML calculation formula, but as soon as coins are transferred to large exchange wallets, it affects the exchange wallets' AML rating. The exchange must conduct an investigation into each AML incident.

I think rules like this are only applicable to seriously tainted coins like hacked coins which is been monitored, for example the stolen funds ftom an exchange is actually traced down to more than a just a recipient address, this is mostly because the victim themselves actually inform the exchange directly. For almost normal transactions like from Mixers they just check the sender only not how it got to the sender. That’s why just check the last transaction only. I don’t think this will change except there is better analytics tools that they get later, because for now it will be just too much for them most especially if the exchange is large one that get high volume or number of transactions daily

I think the AML score already considers the history of the coins, many past transactions

You can try to move a coin with high aml score to 2-3 different addresses, it won't solve. I never tried more than that, but I think it will only reduce the score if you add more coins to the same address and consolidate them.

Yes, the AML score will get lower if you add clean coins to the same address. Lets say someone has $100 worth of coins that have aml score of 50 and if in the same wallet $1000 worth of coins with 0-5 AML score are added the both the coins with high AML and with low AML will be in same wallet. One might needed to move all the coins to another wallet for extra safety and then to exchanges. That way I guess there won't be any issues from exchange's end.

When we test the AML score of a service, we always use a new address to make the results as accurate as possible. Has anyone done a similar analysis of coins from the same source sent to addresses with different AML scores?
What is the difference if it is at an address that was previously 'dirty' compared to a new, clean address?

After such a transaction with dirty bitcoins, both addresses will have an increased AML risk, and transfers from them to the crypto exchange may be blocked.

I don't understand the point of this comparison if the decision to block is made by a centralized crypto exchange.

If you have 0.05 btc of 30 AML risk, and send those BTC to an address with 0.05 btc of 60 AML risk, it is very reasonable to expect that the final address will have a lower AML score than 60.

This is how mixers and swap exchange are able to clean coins. Coins aren't tainted and marked forever.

Yeah, but what if you send BTC with 25% AML score to the empty address that previously had coins with a >60% AML score? Will the new coins, although relatively clean, inherit a bad score due to the history of the address?

I guess that is very likely to happen as well.

This is a reason why I don't use some addresses anymore... like the ones that I received from campaigns of services that are no longer active, which I prefer not to mention here.

I think tracking is usually carried out if you suspect someone of fraud or hacking, maybe, but for ordinary transactions, no one is going to hire blockchain analytics firms because it involves costs.

How about getting the AML coins cleaned through mixers and then moving them to your personal wallet and then depositing them to the exchanges. In this way, there will be almost no risk of your exchange account being blocked.

Yes, most probably because the new coins will somehow get mixed with the old dirty coins and thus the overall score of coins will have high AML than 25%. The coins with low AML will somehow reduce to AML score of high AML coins but the overall score will get increased that's what's most possible. However, practical tests are needed to confirm such a thing.
