Are you a metamask user? If so, then avoid this potential scam message that have been send on your email once you spotted this. Yesterday I received an email regarding metamask verification of your wallet that needs:

- add an email on your wallet
- Fingerprint access (The hell this would be require)

Heres the sender email(For reference):

Metamask is an old noncustodial wallet used by many users since then and Im sure some will received this kind of email if you had been active on some web3 projects that you incorporate your email in the past.

Very possible it might take the you to a website that you should enter your seed phrase before you proceed. This has been the most common one that the bad actors are using to scam people.

People that will fall for this need not to come to crypto because such bad act is easy to know and avoid, but people will still be people, they will still be scammed because they do not care to lean about how to avoid crypto hacks and scams.

Thank you for providing the link in question... It appears that someone has already taken care of the issue [it now redirects to Wikipedia]: Screenshot
In case this was a deliberate act by the scammer to mask it temporarily, I'm going to leave the relevant links for reporting it:

Some mobile wallets do have TouchID/FaceID enabled by default and require your fingerprint or face scan to unlock. It’s an extra layer of security that prevents theft if someone has physical access to your device.

The fraud site only redirects to Wikipedia if you are a bot or are using a VPN. The fake MetaMask page still shows up if you have a residential IP address and non-bot user agent.

Device password can be different from the wallet password. It is not good to use the same password on both your device and wallet.

Most people are using fingerprint to unlock their device, another person that has access to the biometry can also use the same fingerprint to access the wallet. Setting password has always been better.

Thanks for sharing. I haven't received this nonsense email (not that I want one). Maybe these scammers are just randomly sending this to anybody who they think is a MetaMask user?

Most probably, some of those web3 projects either sold your data or they got hacked, and those scammers got hold of your e-mail. We can't really trust any "web3" projects nowadays, geez. I guess it's best to always use a dummy email when signing up.

Anyone who connects their wallet to this phishing website and interacts with it by signing a fake transaction or by entering their seed phrase or private key if the site asks for it, will almost certainly lose all of their assets very quickly.

Thousands of these phishing emails are sent every day to a massive number of cryptocurrency users. Even if one of the scammers' malicious domains is taken down, they just create another copy of the same scam onto many new domains.

So always double-check before you click anything.. There have been a lot more phishing attacks this year, allowing scammers to steal millions of dollars from their victims.

As suggested in the thread, use a dedicated, low-profile email address for signing up for newsletters or Web3 project whitelists. Keep your primary email especially the one linked to your exchange accounts completely isolated from DeFi projects. Always access your essential tools (Exchanges, DeFi protocols, Wallet support pages) through manually saved bookmarks.

Never use links found in emails, SMS, or Discord/Telegram DMs.

Do we really need an email address for using a non-custodial wallet like MetaMask? As far as I know, I have been using MetaMask but never used any email address. Then why should we take it seriously if we receive an email from MetaMask? It really doesn’t make sense. Sometimes I notice such mail, and I just mark it as spam. It doesn’t make sense to react to that since I don’t provide any mail during the opening of a MetaMask wallet.

On the other hand, there is no such verification for using Metamask. Don’t be too innocent or stupid; scammers often look for new scam tactics. Unless we are careful, then we always have to lose; scammers just do not send MetaMask spoof mail; they also use various exchanges' spoof email addresses. We must verify such mail and avoid it.

Good question, I am using my dummy email for such activity on web3 so I expect a lame attempt of a scam like the one I shared. The emails are really not needed but if youre a guy into web3, socialfi, ICO, whitelisting and active airdrop hunter you use often the email and your metamask address to disclose on some projects which typically be on the hands of project. ( Once that got compromised or maybe sold by that project) then your info such that email will be leak to these guys.

But nonetheless theres really none related to metamask verification thats a trick by these scammers to try to caught anyone.

Yes, you don’t need email for MetaMask so spoof emails are a red flag. I’ve seen an user scammed via spoof email.

Great catch [unfortunately, scammers are becoming more creative by the day]... For those who can, please also take a minute to report them to their registrar and host [it might help speed up the process (refer to the green text in post #5)].

Thank you for sharing this alert. I always check the sender's email address. When they are fake/scams, they are usually strange domains or even @gmail and other free email providers. Yesterday I received a similar email trying to impersonate the Base wallet.

I have received lots of emails like this on my email where i used to purchase Ledger. And im immune on those bastards already. There are so many ways they tried, some try to extort, threat, and usually the phishing shits.
